The Angel of the North
Without wishing to make a mockery of art, Antony Gormley's 'Angel' is a bit like that well known brand of Yeast Extract...you either love it or hate it!
I for one, fit into the former category and recognise the spiritually embracing nature of this sculptured metal icon, the magnitude of which has to be seen to be believed!
In situ since February 1998, when seen on the horizon from any journey back to the North East, it represents home to me.
