Saltburn - By - The - Sea . This Victorian town still has its cliff tramway that takes people up and down the cliff to the pier.

It was a beautiful calm sunny day when I took this image, the car at the top waiting to descend.

When the pier was built between 1876 and 1879. It was an immediate hit with tourists and ship owners. it was originally 1500 ft long but after a storm in 1875 it was reduced to 1250ft.
