If you walk to the mouth of the River Tyne, just before the North Shields fish quay you will come upon this view, looking south the pier and groyne at South shields.
These old staithes must have been here for years - they are weathered beautifully, and lead your eye to the far side of the river.
As I took images here, the ferry from Rotterdam arrived and sailed past , it was calm and hardly made an impact in the water, or so I thought , the wash came suddenly and I got very wet very quickly!
