The experience at the Thvannadalshnukur, glacier, got us all excited to go to Jökulsárlón - the glacial lagoon. As we got closer we could see through the low cloud two enormous glaciers snaking towards us.
We had learned that if we saw any cars parked, then there was something of interest to look at. A mile off Route 1 we saw a number of parked cars and so we followed a rough gravel track to see what was there.
This view greeted us - a smaller glacial lagoon being fed by a massive glacier. The vista disappeared into the low cloud
