Underneath Mýrdalsjökull lies the volcano Katla. This volcano erupts between 40 and 80 years, it's last erruption was 1918 .........so it's due.
If you look carefully at this image you can see the ice blue colour of the glacier in the cracks and crevasses that cut through it
